Distant Shore Rattan Practices Resume

Greetings Good Gentles

We are pleased to announce that an official Distant Shore heavy weapons practice will begin and continue every Wednesday evening starting July 21 at 6:30pm

Please join us at the Truro Victoria Park across the parking lot from the swimming pool (Palmer Street to Adams Street). There is a large grassy area with trees surrounding. Lots of space to sit and watch, bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

There will be some loner equipment available, the loner equipment must be sanitized between use.

The Baron and Baroness will be attending practice in garb, please join us in showing the spectators what other options the SCA entails, i.e., bring an art project, play some music. (Encouraged but not mandatory)

There will be the standard forms such as waivers for non-members and Contact Tracing sign in sheet Requires your full name and one of the following contact info: phone number, email, or address (Practices and meetings can simply have a sign-in sheet for those who arrive, rather than pre-reg.)

Seneschals will keep the sign-in sheets for 60 days after the activity, and then dispose of them appropriately.

Hand Sanitizer will be available at sign in.

Mask wearing is required if you cannot maintain a minimum physical distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from others.

No Sharing of food or water.

Tournaments are not permitted at this time.

Spectators have a limit of 50% of the facility’s capacity up to 100 spectators indoors and 150 spectators outdoors and need to follow social distancing guidelines.

The following paragraph must appear, in its entirety, on all event notices, flyers, online announcements, and advertisements, as well as being posted in multiple locations at any and all SCA-sponsored functions going forward:

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.
